book genres that don't exist that aren't really niche at all.
why isn't there comedy fiction?
like there is comedy. and there is fiction. but not comedy fiction.
(by comedy fiction i don't mean a piece of fiction where people end up married/happy. i mean, like, it's actually laughter-inducing)
there is a whole lot of comedy nonfiction in essay-writing though. and it's always like self-deprecating and not actually funny imo.
i want book versions of:
- Superbad
- Girls (the HBO show)
- Flight of the Conchords
- Workaholics
- some sort of like a diary of a promiscuous college girl
- Anaïs Nin erotica but between two consenting adults and no blood/violence
Youth in Revolt proves this can be done.
