ppl who talk about IQ tests

e is obsessed with talking about IQ & the IQ test but:

are humans intelligent enough to measure our own intelligence?

i feel that i have become incompatible with friendships.

back when i didn't think very much at all, it was easy to make friends. all it took was wanting to do the same things together: eat mcdonalds, eat microwave chicken nuggets, watch "superbad"

but now that i think in a way that is not a mere playing out of a common script, i cannot help but find the things that most people say rather idiotic. and e is not even THAT common!

though it is valid that everyone can say idiotic things and that the purpose of speaking with each other might be in part to correct each other's idiocracies, it does not interest me to talk about IQ with e

maybe because i fear i might offend him with what i want to say about it

which is that this pattern recognition test is made up of patterns so lacking in stimulation that a mind which manages to stave off boredom enough to comply with focusing on these arrows and squares is a simple obedient mind. and the application value of such a mind is nearly meaningless outside of repetitive production.

pattern recognition is intelligence on a low level. it is useful but limited in application. it is also the most rudimentary level of intelligence and is an intelligence shared by animals and the yellow blob. it is just one dimension higher than sensory perception: it is sensory perception times intellectual awareness. it is not an insignificant intelligence, but it is not the intelligence about which we humans are so self-fellating.

human intelligence "surpasses" pattern recognition by one dimension: creation; in the sense that we do not merely recognize patterns but create new ones.

a "higher" intelligence test that measures this higher dimension of intelligence should ask questions to that end:

fuck i feel like i could be writing phd papers on this shit
