mood-altering vs psychedelic drugs in daily life (& nature)
types of drugs:
- mood-altering --> music : they excite me, depress me, they play with my feelings however they like, really.
- psychedelics --> books : they make me see things that are not really there and make me think thoughts i wouldn't have come to on my own
but the ULTIMATE DRUG i think is HIKING IN THE JUNGLE
when i'm on land i feel i need music and books
like i'm missing some essential vitamin if i don't get them (particularly books)
but when i'm in the jungle i feel i am lacking in nothing
i feel like there is nothing as stimulating as nature because the shapes and sounds are complex and random. when we live in a sterile environment, we are surrounded by the kinds of shapes we teach kindergarteners and our brains are so bored! and i think that's why we seek music and books...
i will go walking more from now on as a way to compensate for not walking in the nature. at least my body will get to move. i have some easygoing podcasts i could listen to too, that don't take too much focus or thinking and feel more like talking to a friend.
besides walking, yoga is the most pleasant thing i do. and skipping.
