piano is the perfect activity

lately I don't like to think, I like to do. and what I like to do most is zone out in one activity for a long long time. and the activity that allows me to do that best is the piano. nothing is quite like it.

scrolling on YouTube --> I get annoyed after a while, because the algorithm shows me annoying girls who talk in repetitive and unappealing melodies, and plus my body gets antsy
working out --> I do like this a lot, but the body needs rest, so it's an activity that takes 1h*3x/week
singing --> even with healthy technique, my throat says no much sooner than fingers
walking --> I get tired and plus, if I want to stop, I have to walk all the way back home. and I don't really want to see anyone. and it's boring
sudoku, or something --> kind of like scrolling on YouTube it gives me a pressing feeling on my chest and I get antsy
writing --> in the past I liked this a lot but lately I don't like to think, I want to live
reading --> I do like this especially after discovering graphic novels but the body protests too after a while

so you see piano is really the perfect activity. I don't get bored (there are so many genres to play, and I don't even have to only learn new repertoire, I can revisit old favorites, do mindless warmups and technique training, improvise, sightread...) and my body is participating just the right amount and it doesn't get fatigued or overused (because I'm varying what I'm playing so much) and my whole brain can be entirely focused (or not, sometimes I can just space out), it leaves no trace, nothing to clean up, and I can stop whenever I want to, I can go to the bathroom whenever I want to, eat whenever I want to. not even the ukulele is so perfect. even on the ukulele you'd develop calluses. the fingertips hurt.
