quintessentially American
I have this friend who I feel tries to be American. She watches “friends” and “family guy” and I don’t know why but I think it’s about wanting to feel American. (It’s like I’m saying these are not shows inherently worthy of your time)
I think a lot of people try to be American to be honest. “Oh what an American thing to say! You are so full of yourself thinking the world wants to be like you”
But it’s true. They’re listening to American music and following American trends and pop news. No one is forcing them. They want this. They want to watch American movies. Go on an American road trip. Have an American experience.
But I think what everyone is missing…is the American spirit which in my opinion is quintessentially a spirit about optimism.
There is a cheeriness to the American energy.
America is like the manic pixie dream girl of the world.
American energy embraces adventure and making mistakes. American energy thinks “being crazy is good and making mistakes is a sign that you’re breaking out of your comfort zone, bravo”
In that sense I think I am the most American person I have ever met. My optimism and enthusiasm border on mania. I’m America on cocaine.
